Why hello there!
I’m Annie Nygard, jewelry designer and owner of Spiffing Jewelry. Spiffing
Jewelry is a wife and husband team that’s been in business since the
Spring of 2008. We’re located in sunny San Diego, California, making
jewelry out of a tiny 2nd bedroom in our little apartment. Born of Necessity...
After making the
bridesmaids bracelets, I then used all the leftover beads to make
myself a badge holder for work, a 45″ long, lovingly hand wire wrapped
rosary chain in a myriad of colors. It matched everything, and garnered
compliments every single day. I liked it so much I began to wear it as a
necklace, and thus the Buxom necklace was born! By now I was on a roll, I made my own bridal jewelry, a gorgeous necklace and matching earrings (see above), and then earrings for all of the bridesmaids, bracelets for all of the moms, and cuff links for all the groomsmen and ushers. It was a never ending litany of handmade jewelry, and I loved it. Everywhere I went after the wedding, I would get compliments on my jewelry. Ladies started asking me for business cards, and I felt like a moron for not having any, or even a website. I was feeling that post-nuptial depression, quite bereft of anything to plan, so I was poised and ready to start my business. I ordered tons and tons of beads and got to work. Three years later, Spiffing Jewelry has grown into a full-time job and flourishing business, selling worldwide on Etsy, my own website, at craft shows and intimate home parties. I’m loving every minute of it, and I know that you will love my jewelry too! A little about me... oops, I mean us!I’m a perpetually happy 20-something, and I show that in multiple ways; smiling-always, having something nice to say to anyone I might happen to meet, and wearing my personality on my sleeve, not only in the clothes that I wear, but in how I accessorize. I love bright colors, can you tell? I quit my day job in November 2011 to run Spiffing Jewelry full time, and though I work longer and harder than I ever did working for someone else, it's the most rewarding and fulfilling thing ever!
Nick runs his own Etsy shop, TheStrikingViking selling his photography, hand drawn greeting cards and left-handed movie scenes (which are hilarious, since he's right-handed!) He's a man's-man who loves baseball, bacon, bourbon and various other b-word and non-b-word things. He's a big Disney freak, comic book nerd, and movie buff, like myself. Nick quit his day job to join me full time in September 2011, he handles all of the finishing work, polishing, oxidizing, brushing and forming metal (right up his power-tool alley!).
